Made In Heights – “Slow Burn”
Kelsey Bulkin knows how to make a track simmer. She’s one half of L.A. duo Made In Heights, and as their vocalist, she controls the height and depth of emotion on their sparse, clicky pop songs. Former Das Racist collaborator Sabzi handles all the production, twisting Bulkin’s wordless vocal runs into part of the backdrop at points, letting her words shine front and center at others. Their latest track, “Slow Burn” sizzles and smolders but never gives up its cool restraint — pop music that never loses sight of its higher purpose. Listen below and check out their other recent single, the subtle jittery “Forgiveness.”
