Watch Sufjan Stevens Play “The Predatory Wasp…” Live For The First Time In 8 Years
Sufjan Stevens has been touring North America over the past month in support of Carrie & Lowell, and he’s taking a few weeks off before embarking on a quick West Coast tour, followed by a European tour later this summer. At his last show in Austin on Wednesday night, he closed out his set with an extended story about his time at a United Methodist Church summer camp, which turned out to have indirectly inspired the song that he played next: Illinois’ “The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!” Stevens said that it was the first time he’s played it live in eight years. Watch video of the performance below — the song itself starts at 3:40, but the story is worth sticking it out for.
