Watch Eddie Vedder Sing “Better Man” For Letterman’s Third-To-Last Show
David Letterman is doing his last-ever Late Show on Wednesday, and during this final run of shows, he’s had some truly wonderful musical guests, including Tom Waits and Ryan Adams. Last night, for Letterman’s third-to-last show, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder did the honors, as we reported he would. (Tom Hanks was the main guest, and that guy is always good for a late-night appearance.) Backed by Paul Shaffer and his band, Vedder did a rousing version of Pearl Jam’s “Better Man,” somehow resisting the temptation to turn the chorus into “can’t find a Letterman.” (Seriously, it was right there.) Vedder got really into the performance, though, to the point where I’m pretty sure I saw a broken string on his guitar by the end. Check it out below.
Tonight, Letterman will get an extremely rare late-night performance from Bob Dylan.
