Eliot Sumner – “Firewood” Video (Stereogum Premiere)
Eliot Sumner has an intensity in the “Firewood” video that reflects the jagged edges of mirrored glass lining the floor beneath her. She’s eerily similar to Sting in terms of looks, sounds, and movements — likely because Sting is her father. Despite all those similarities, Sumner has credibility as a musician in her own right; just listen. Though she’s no longer recording under her electro-pop alias, I Blame CoCo, Sumner’s music remains exceedingly catchy. It’s engaging stuff that inspires you to move with an ’80s-influenced beat. And the song’s quality is amplified by the video, produced by Flat-e, which uses crisp geometric lighting to powerful effect. Watch below.
