Vanessa Bayer’s Sound Advice series centers around her incompetent and kind of pathetic media coach alter ago having awkward chats with and occasionally giving really terrible advice to musicians. She’s previously annoyed people like Jenny Lewis, Sleater-Kinney, and “Weird Al” Yankovic, and today’s episode features Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse as the latest uncomfortable participant. Bayer suggests a name change for the band “because modesty is for losers and mice are taking over my apartment,” and she also brainstorms up a Modest Mouse Pixar film, sort of like Ratatouille except about a mouse who learns to brag. Isaac Brock makes a great straight man, responding mostly with terse incredulity and looking like he’d rather be anywhere else in the world. Watch below.
