Good Buddy – “The Address” (Stereogum Premiere)
Good Buddy is Nashville-based artist Jason Staebler, who delivers soft vocals in a singer-songwriter music that drifts across rock’s various subgenres. Staebler debuted the Good Buddy moniker with 2013’s Beautiful Lifestyles, baring inspiration from Radiohead’s synth-rock experimentation and uttered falsettos. Now he shares “The Address,” a stripped-down single that features gentle plucking acoustics and warm piano rhythms. Staebler croons melodic verses that infuse emotion into the most commonplace words; when he sings “Take a chance or two/do what you want to do,” you feel there’s more beyond the surface. What initially appears as a melancholy ballad is actually soothing and pleasant. Listen below.
