Spencer Radcliffe – “Yankee”
Though Spencer Radcliffe’s songs are fragile and fragmentary, they contain entire histories of sound. “Yankee,” for instance, recalls downcast ’90s slowcore, Midwest emo at its most deconstructed, and the meticulous analog lo-fi of the Microphones among other inventive, insular music. Yet Radcliffe is an Artist To Watch because his creative presence is magnetic and his vision defies easy categorization. The FADER premiered this latest track, which follows “Mia” in the buildup to Radcliffe’s tremendous new album Looking In. Peer inside it below.
Looking In is out 10/2 on Run For Cover. Pre-order it here.
