Joy Division Fan Auctioning Off Ian Curtis’ Kitchen Table Again
Two years ago Ian Curtis’ family was aghast to see the late Joy Division singer’s kitchen table, which was in the room when Curtis committed suicide, selling for about $13,000 on eBay. That buyer must have fallen through because Terry Harrop, the seller, has put it back up for auction. In a lengthy note on eBay that begins with “BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND,” Tarrop explains that he’s selling the table to fund his own band Always The Way’s music career:
This is the reason for selling my Joy Division Collection, this is the reason why the Table amongst other things have gone on Ebay.
I need to properly record my own compositions and the bands compositions, instead of leaving behind some dodgy You Tube videos as my Legacy and the bands legacy.
The money raised will go towards band equipment and recording equipment so that we can finally fully realise the potential of the songs and melodies we hear in our heads and hearts.
Judge for yourself whether that’s a worthy investment.
