The Weeknd Won’t Get Jail Time For Punching A Cop
Back in January, the Weeknd was arrested for allegedly punching a police officer in the head during an altercation at the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas. According to the original report, Abel Tesfaye was involved in a fight at the hotel around 4:20AM, and when the police arrived to break it up, he struck one officer in the side of the head with a closed fist. TMZ reports that the singer pled no contest to the charge of misdemeanor battery of a protected person in a Vegas court yesterday, and it looks like he’s getting off pretty light. The judge ordered him to pay $1000 to an injured cop fund, undergo anger management and an alcohol evaluation, and complete 50 hours of community service, and if he does all that and stays out of further legal trouble, the case will be dismissed.
