Lawrence Rothman – “Oz Vs. Eden” (With Charli XCX) Video
The last we heard from Los Angeles weird auteur Lawrence Rothman, he was “California Paranoia” with Angel Olsen. As with that song, new single “Oz Vs. Eden” is nothing to write home about musically speaking — some ghoulish rock with demonic chants that’s apropos for the season, with Charli XCX providing some “na na”s and backing vocals — but the visuals are impeccable. Once again, Rothman worked with Floria Sigismondi on this one, and it’s set in a haunted house filled with all kinds of unspeakable, excessively creepy horrors. Rothman plays one of his alters, Kevin, and there’s also a pair of creepy siblings, a veiled old man, a gold-plated angel, and more. Check it out below.
UPDATE: Charli XCX has clarified her involvement with the song in a series of tweets:
@stereogum hi. I love Lawrence and Justin but I am not featured on this song. I did backing vocals and asked to be uncredited as this does

@stereogum not represent the direction I am moving in as an artist. I was not meant to be on that press release. Please remove my name from

@stereogum this article. I have only love & respect for @JustinLRaisen and this project is beautiful but confusing for my artistic direction

I'm seeing a lot of articles going up about the wonderful new @LAWRENCEROTHMAN song. Just to clarify I am not/was never featured on this ??
— CHARLI XCX (@charli_xcx) October 29, 2015
I sang some "na's" in the studio for producer @JustinLRaisen. That's all. This beautiful song is all down to the vision of @LAWRENCEROTHMAN

I was not part of the writing/vision/production for this song. It was an uncredited vocal that for some reason went in the press release.

Rothman’s album is out next year via Downtown Records. It was produced by Justin Raisen, and also features Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink.
