Ozzy Osbourne Returns To The Alamo To Apologize For Pissing On Monument
Back in 1982, Ozzy Osbourne was in San Antonio for a concert, and was arrested after urinating on the Alamo Cenotaph monument right across from the famous Mission itself. Per concert promoter Greg Wilson’s account in the San Antonio Express-News archives:
He was drunk. Ozzy was super drunk and he had a bladder problem. You know, I don’t think anyone would have even noticed what he was doing except that he was doing a photo shoot with the English music magazine Melody Maker and he was dressed in pink tights and ballerina shoes. He wandered over to the side of the statue and there he went. When we got him out of jail he was still so intoxicated that I didn’t think he’d be able to perform that night. But he slept it off. We did ask him not to mention what he had done when he went onstage. Ozzy went against everything we said.
Over the past week, Osbourne has been making his way around Texas filming scenes for an upcoming History Channel special featuring him and his son Jack. He visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center (pictured above), went to the Texas Capitol building, and today he stopped by the Alamo — where he peed so long ago — to issue an official apology for his actions. Press was kept at a minimum, but his TV crew was with him every step of the way.
No word on when Ozzy’s new show will premiere.
