Erykah Badu may have released one of the best mixtapes of the year, but outside of music sometimes it’s impossible to figure out what the hell she’s talking about. At the Soul Train Awards last week, she justifiably and understandably clowned Iggy Azalea, but earlier today when someone on Twitter asked her “why you do iggy like that,” she responded by … apologizing? I think?

“You know what? I wanna do this for my daughters. I want to apologize to Iggy Azalea because she’s one of their favorite artists and they listen to her all the time, and it’s for them,” she begins the video response. OK, good start! But wait… it goes on:

“But when I really think about it, if y’all love her so much why don’t you go and be with her then? Go and be with her, yo.” There’s more. Watch below…
