Watch Kevin Shields, Mike Watt, & Sharon Van Etten Join Dinosaur Jr. In NYC
This week, Dinosaur Jr. have been playing a seven-night stand at New York’s Bowery Ballroom, and they’ve brought out a ton of special guests, including Kurt Vile, Jeff Tweedy, Henry Rollins, and Bob Mould. Last night, they had a maybe-even-more impressive list of guests. Comedian Eugene Mirman helped out on one song. Former Minutemen bassist Mike Watt, who plays in the reunited Stooges, joined the band for covers of the Stooges’ “T.V. Eye” and “Fun House.” Sharon Van Etten sang Dinosaur Jr.’s classic “Freak Scene.” And Kevin Shields, the semi-reclusive My Bloody Valentine frontman, joined the band for a cover of MBV’s “Thorn,” then returned alongside Kurt Vile for an epic 10-minute encore version of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer.” Watch videos of the band performing with Shields, Vile, Van Etten, and Watt below.
What could Dino Jr. possibly have left after all that? Is Jay Z coming out tonight or something?
