Tigertown – “Make It Real” (Stereogum Premiere)
Aussie quartet Tigertown are gearing up to release their five-track Lonely Cities EP this Friday. They’ve already released the stellar title track and “Bullet From The Gun.” Today, they sneak in one last drop by sharing “Make It Real”. This thing is huge, stretching out quickly like a growth spurt in an unsuspecting teenager. But there are no growing pains or cracked voices here. A simple, dark synth pattern from Charlie Collins careens into huge, polished moments with a heavy-hitting drum pattern and combine with a shimmering guitar from her husband Chris leading to the infectious harmonized hook: “Somebody take me back so I can feel/ Somebody take it back when we can make it real.” You would think Australia was the most lonely place in the world with the longing on this song, but if I were in a club and this track started pumping I don’t think I’d be the only one moving to it. Check it out below.
