Stream Heron Oblivion’s Self-Titled Debut Album
Back in the ’00s, Meg Baird led the excellent, underrated Philly narco-folk group Espers, one of the best things to come out of the whole freak-folk wave. These days, she’s the leader of Heron Oblivion, a way-out West Coast underground-psych supergroup that also features members of Comets On Fire, Sic Alps, and Assemble Head Of Sunburst Sound. The group’s sound is both trippy and devotional, and it evokes that whole collapsed-on-a-shag-rug-staring-at-a-lava-lamp atmosphere like noting else I’ve heard lately. We’ve posted the early tracks “Oriar” and “Your Hollows,” and now you can stream the band’s entire excellent self-titled debut below.
Heron Oblivion is out 3/4 on Sub Pop.
