Today, restless British pop sensations the 1975 release their second album, the unfortunately titled but fascinatingly and rewardingly all-over-the-place I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. And last night, they shared an oddly defensive video for “The Sound,” the album’s gospel-inflected filter-disco jam. Also last night, the band showed up on The Tonight Show to perform it. They’d already done the same song on SNL, and that performance was a bit of a mess. But doing it last night with a full complement of backing singers, they seemed a lot more confident.
