Hear Kid Cudi And Paul Reubens Discuss Their Prospective TV Pilot
Kid Cudi, also known by his government and acting name Scott Mescudi, has been just as active on the TV and silver screens as he’s been in the recording studio. He dropped Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven this past December, and has come with a full-length effort every year for the past three years. But in the three-year gap between 2010’s Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager and 2013’s Indicud, he made his proper acting debut as Domingo Brown in HBO’s How To Make It In America and has done a handful of film projects since, including a small role in the Entourage sequel.
Mescudi met Paul Ruebens, the brilliant mind behind Pee Wee Herman, on the set of How To Make It In America, and the two became friends. The former G.O.O.D. Music rapper grew up a fan of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, and he says they built a friendship on mutual respect. The two sat down for a conversation on Talkhouse’s film podcast, and it roamed all over place. Mescudi opened up about his troubles adjusting to fame, how he decided to get involved in music, and how he and Ruebens have similarly goofy qualities about them. But perhaps the biggest reveal is that Mescudi has written a TV pilot and wants Ruebens to star in it. Despite his lonely stoner persona, the Cleveland rapper has some good comedic timing, so that could actually be pretty hilarious. Let’s hope Ruebens agrees.
