In a few weeks, heartfelt and clangorous Massachusetts punks the Hotelier will release their new album Goodness. You should be getting excited for that one. It’s something special. (Check out the early tracks “Piano Player” and “Soft Animal” if you need a taste.) But in non-album news, the Hotelier have also contributed a track to a new tribute compilation that honors patron emo saints the Cure. Love Cats: A Tribute To The Cure features bands like Tancred and Dowsing, and it’s got the Hotelier taking on “Doing The Unstuck,” a deep cut from the Cure’s 1992 album Wish. The Hotelier’s version is an amped-up, strangulated take on the original song, but it also captures the Cure’s strange enthusiasm. Check it out below, via Pitchfork.
