Stephen Steinbrink – “Building Machines”
Stephen Steinbrink will release his seventh album, Anagrams, this coming summer, and we’ve already heard its lead single “Absent Mind.” When Steinbrink announced the LP, he mentioned that the writing process was a bit chaotic and scatterbrained in a press release, and it shows, but not in the disordered way that a word like “chaotic” might suggest. On “Building Machines,” Steinbrink guides listeners through a series of blurred scenes that coalesce to form a poignant, evocative story with no obvious conclusion. You work building machines / Unraveling all they believe/ I remember you from when I was small/ The silence there was deafening.” Listen below.
Anagrams is out 7/1 via Melodic.
