“Special” New Gorillaz Album Won’t Be Out Until 2017
Last year, Damon Albarn let it slip that he was going to start working on a new Gorillaz album, and artist Jamie Hewlett confirmed that the follow-up to 2010’s The Fall (or Plastic Beach, if you don’t want to count The Fall) would be coming sometime this year. But it looks like things are running a little behind schedule — the album was supposed to be recorded in September, but footage from a recent recording session just emerged in April. And now, a Gorillaz fan who encountered Jamie Hewlett has reported that the release is indeed being pushed back to 2017: “JAMIE says new GORILLAZ is special, really fuckin special. Can’t be rushed,” they write in the caption of an Instagram post. “2017, yo. Fuck. So, guys, that Gorilla Fund, we got time. Go shop, take vacation, that shit aint happening this year. BUT its gonna be all that and more.”
