Samiyam – “Mirror” (Feat. Earl Sweatshirt) Video
Almost a year after Earl Sweatshirt’s excellent 2015 effort I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, a song called “Mirror” surfaced. The LA spitfire said that the track wasn’t included because the sample couldn’t be cleared for Samiyam’s beat. Apparently Stones Throw has good lawyers, because the track appeared on Samiyam’s debut album Animals Have Feelings this past spring.
Today, “Mirrors” gets an animated visual accompaniment courtesy of animator extraordinaire Ruff Mercy. Samiyam’s soulful beat and Earl’s multis are accentuated by a trippy treatment of quick multilayered overlays against a black background that comes across like a psychotropic drug-induced vision of Earl’s vivid verses. Watch.
Animals Have Feelings is out now on Stones Throw.
