The Avalanches have the interwebs ablaze, teasing the shit out of us every step of the way to their upcoming sophomore album Wildflower. It’s already been 16 years since they left us with Since I Left You. On top of that we had to wait almost two years for just one song from the session Danny Brown mentioned. Then they did everything but come with the music by updating their socials, announcing live shows, and teasing a film with Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, and Brown. And previews of every song even surfaced on the French Amazon.com.

For all of this immense hype for an already unbelievably anticipated album, the music has incredibly not disappointed in the slightest (Dr. Dre might be somewhere jealous right now). “Colours,” “If I Was A Folkstar,” “Frankie Sinatra,” and previews of “Subways” on stage and on the phone have all been wonderfully varied and stellar in their own right. Now an official full version of “Subways” has arrived in all its funky, disjointed, muted glory, featuring samples from the funky punk of Chandra’s “Subways” and Graham Bonnet’s version of The Bee Gees’ late-period classic “Warm Ride.” Listen below.
