Indie imprint RVNG is gearing up to drop the next installment of their FRKWYS series, entitled FRKWYS Vol. 13: Sunergy. To kick things off they’ve orchestrated a scintillating pairing between Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and electronic composer Suzanne Ciani. Smith deftly strikes the delicate balance between experimental synth wandering and cohesive composition to create evocative mood pieces. Ciani layers exquisite synth textures that build on and weave throughout each other simultaneously. They’ve come together to collaborate on “Closed Circuit.” Soothing ambient seeps, and multi-layered, warped, careening, synths crash together in spots and calmly ripple together in others like the sea coming down from high tide for a gorgeous exploratory soundscape. Fittingly, a serene ocean visual from Sean Hellfritsch’s forthcoming documentary accompaniment to the series loops as the sonics interact. Listen.
