Ford Argentina Rips Off Spoon Song
Often, if a band refuses to license their song for a commercial or if the ad agency in charge of making the commercial just doesn’t want to pay for it, they’ll hire someone else to record a cheap soundalike version they can use instead. Unfortunately, it’s an extremely shady but extremely commonplace occurrence in the advertising world, and now it’s happened to Spoon. As one Argentinian Spoon fan has noted, a local Ford commercial prominently features a blatant (and much worse) ripoff of Spoon’s “I Turn My Camera On.” Understandably, Spoon don’t seem too thrilled about it:
Hey @spoontheband, a local Ford ad here in Argentina is plagiarising one of your songs. Please sue their asses off: https://t.co/cJa5zrCHq7
