Anthony Jay Sanders – “Mother’s Day Money”
Anthony Jay Sanders fronts the Island Of Misfit Toys, the theatrical rock group that put out a terrific new album called I Made You Something last year. Last month, he released a compilation of early solo material, and he’s following that up later this year with the first proper LP under his own name. I Will Be The One Who Goes is out in September, and “Mother’s Day Money” is the chiming lead single, an anthemic track that’s ecstatically anxious and guilty about being young and broke. “Nobody ever told me that my fun would outrun me,” Sanders sings in his bountiful voice. “It’s Mother’s Day and I have no money/ A hug and a kiss/ She looks past this somehow.” Listen below.
