Nai Harvest Announce Breakup
Sheffield slacker-pop duo Nai Harvest are calling it quits. The Band To Watch alums announced their impending breakup in a Facebook post today, explaining that drummer Lew Currie is moving to Copenhagen to pursue a master’s degree in Game Art, Design & Development, while singer-guitarist Ben Thompson is launching a new music and art project called Luxury Death. They’ve got a pair of farewell shows lined up in Sheffield and London this October.
Over the course of five years, Nai Harvest evolved from a self-described “twinkly” emo project a la American Football into a ’90s alternative rock sound closer to Wavves. Along the way they made some fantastic records — the Hold Open My Head EP, which caught them at an intriguing transition point, is my favorite — and toured relentlessly, including a set earlier this year at Stereogum’s unofficial SXSW bash. We will miss them!

***HELLO WORLD ***
We’ve had the best 5 years of our lives doing Nai Harvest but now sadly, just like all good things, it has to come to end.
We’ve put a lot into this band over the last few years…Quitting jobs and missing uni for tours, spending a load of money, and putting our personal lives aside and the band before everything.
Now we feel we want a little change in direction and the opportunity to start something new…*** Lew has been accepted to study a masters in Game Art, Design & Development at the art school in Copenhagen and will be moving out there in August. Wish him good luck and keep up with his artwork here http://lewcurrie.co.uk/ & here https://www.instagram.com/lewcurrie/
*** Ben has started a new music & art project in Manchester called Luxury Death, which will be releasing their first few singles & zines very soon. Keep up to date here https://www.facebook.com/luxurydeath/ & here https://twitter.com/luxury_death & here https://www.instagram.com/luxury.death/

We’ve met some of the best people all over the world all thanks to this band and the DIY / punk scene. You can still grab copies of our records & some merch from Topshelf here http://www.topshelfrecords.com/roster/nai-harvest/products

It’s going to be very weird living in separate countries, after spending most of our time together over the last few years and we’re going to miss each other and this band a lot, but this is a decision we’re both really happy with!
