Ice Cube & VH1 Producing Hip-Hop Version Of Hollywood Squares
Ice Cube and VH1 are teaming up for a modern edition and hip-hop version of the classic game show Hollywood Squares. Appropriately called Hip-Hop Squares, the show will feature celebrities testing their pop culture knowledge. “Hip Hop Squares is going to be fun and spontaneous; unlike typical game shows, viewers should never know what’s going to happen next,” Ice Cube said in a press release.
Hollywood Squares made its debut in 1966 and ran through 1981. The most recent iteration of the show ran from 1998 to 2004. MTV2 tried out a modern take on the show (also called Hip Hop Squares) back in 2012, but it was cancelled after two seasons and 20 episodes.
The Ice Cube-executive-produced Hip Hop Squares will start airing in the fall.
