Stream Knxwledge WT.9.8_ & HEX10.
Last year, when most of us were still figuring out who Anderson .Paak was, he teamed up with the Los Angeles producer Knxwledge to form a duo called NxWorries and to release the very good collaborative EP Link Up & Suede. Anderson .Paak has obviously become his own thing since then, and now Knxwledge — who, I should point out, has been part of the Los Angels beat-music scene for years — has gone off on his own to self-release the new albums WT.9.8_ and HEX10.. On em>WT.9.8_, Knxwledge uses the vocal tracks from older rap tracks, starting with Busta Rhymes’ immortal “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check,” and retrofits those songs with loping, jazzy new beats. It’s like a transmission from an alternate dimension where Jay-Z’s “Hey Papi” was a semi-obscure Stones Throw single, and it all sounds really cool. And on HEX10., he does something similar with R&B songs. Stream the two albums below.
