The Faint – “Skylab1979”
One of the first album reviews I ever got paid to write was of Danse Macabre, the 2001 album from the great Omaha electro-punk badasses the Faint. (Shout out to the Baltimore City Paper for letting an intern pitch.) The Faint have kept at it over the years, and they’ve now amassed enough music to put out an honest-to-god greatest-hits album. The new career-spanning collection is called Capsule: 1999-2016, and it’ll include a couple of new tracks from the group. One of those songs is called “Skylab1979,” and it’s a piece of hard, streamlined synth-rock that could’ve easily come from those early-’00s days. Listen to it below, via Noisey.
Capsule: 1999-2016 is out 9/30 on Saddle Creek.
