Beastie Boy and noted surfing aficionado Mike D called the police over the weekend after noticing that thousands of dollars worth of gear had been stolen from his outdoor shed at his Los Angeles home, including 15-20 surfboards. TMZ reports that authorities are investigating the theft.

Mike D took up surfing after his son became interested in the sport. A few years ago, he participated in a short documentary directed by Alex Kopps that featured cameos from Spike Jonze and professional surfer Rob Machado. Check that out below.
