Bobby Shmurda’s protracted criminal case is nearing its depressing end. The New York rapper, born Ackquille Pollard, has been jailed since December 2014 awaiting trial for conspiracy to commit murder in addition to various drug and weapons charges. After three postponements, the trial was finally set to commence this week, but it looks like the case won’t go before a jury after all. TMZ reports that Shmurda has struck a deal to plead guilty in exchange for a seven-year sentence followed by five years of probation. Per TMZ’s report, his lawyer advised him to take the deal because he was facing life in prison and unlikely to face a favorable jury.
