Jack White To Play Premiere Of A Prairie Home Companion 2.0

Jack White is set to make his debut on the long-running radio show A Prairie Home Companion one month from today, which broadcasts live from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. White will do an acoustic set to kick off a reboot of the show since Garrison Keillor stepped down as host after 42 years. White’s good friend and popular bluegrass auteur Chris Thile will be taking over for Keillor. Here’s what Thile had to say about White and fellow guests on his first episode, Lake Street Dive:

Jack White is an inspiration — he plays, sings, and writes with every fiber of his formidable being. And my God, Lake Street Dive! I’ve never witnessed a group of musicians create and perform with a more united sense of purpose.

Other guests this season include Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and John Hodgman on 10/22, and Esperanza Spalding and Aparna Nancherla on 10/29 with more to be announced soon. In addition to musical guests, each new live shows will feature a mix of well-known and up-and-coming musicians, sketch comedy bits, spoken word, and an original “Song Of The Week” composed by Thile.

Tune in to A Prairie Home Companion on Saturday nights with live video and audio streams on the show’s website. The show will also tour venues across the country, including the Town Hall in New York. Tickets can be purchased here.
