White House Fest SXSL Announces Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Jones, Stranger Things Cast
Earlier this month, the White House announced that they were teaming up with SXSW to bring a one-day miniature version of the festival to the White House’s south lawn. SXSL will take place 10/3, and today, the White House has announced some of the lineup.
Barack Obama and Leonardo DiCaprio are headlining the event, joining climate scientist Dr. Katharine Hayhoe in a dialogue about environmental issues, which will be followed by the domestic premiere of DiCaprio’s new climate documentary Before The Flood. On the music side, the bill includes Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, the Lumineers, and DJ Beverly Bond, and the film portion of the fest will feature a student film festival attended by Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer and actors/viral content machines/human children Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, and Gaten Matarazzo.
The rest of the schedule consists largely of panels with names like Feeding The Future and Hard Things Are Hard: A Conversation with James Turrell and David Adjaye, featuring James Turrell of “Hotline Bling” fame.
