In the summer of 2002, Green Day and Blink-182, both near their respective commercial peaks, hit the road together. On the Pop Disaster tour, both bands played America’s finer hockey arenas and outdoor sheds. Bands like Jimmy Eat World and Saves The Day opened. It was probably fun! I should’ve gone! But ’90s pop-punk persistently refuses to die. Both Green Day and Blink scored #1 albums this year. And later this year, the two bands will once again come together to co-headline a radio station’s Christmas festival in Oakland.

Sadly, Bay Area modern-rock station Live 105’s Not So Silent Night fest is a two-night affair, which means both bands won’t play the same venue on the same night. Instead, as Alternative Press points out, Green Day, a hometown band in Oakland, will headline the 12/9 bill, which will also feature Empire Of The Sun, Glass Animals, Capital Cities, the Strumbellas, and (hey!) Jimmy Eat World. Meanwhile, Blink-182 top the 12/10 bill, and they’ll share that stage with Bastille, the Head And The Heart, Phantogram, Catfish And The Bottlemen, and K. Flay.
