The Skins – “Bury Me” (Feat D.R.A.M.)
The Skins are a Brooklyn pop quintet comprising three siblings and two friends that range from age 17 to 24. The young group has many different sensibilities which inform a style that seamlessly melds pop, rock, funk, punk, hip-hop, and soul and packages them earworm melodies. Their self-titled debut EP is due later this year, and today they drop off a single called “Bury Me” featuring the buoyant, ascendant Virginia sing-rapper D.R.A.M.
Bay Li kicks off the track belting powerful wails over slow-building synth grooves and drum layers before D.R.A.M. takes the baton and runs amok with a locked in melodic verse surging the track with energy. Then the two join together for marvelous harmonies as zooming synths, atmospheric sweeps, and choir-like chants swell underneath to elevate the final hook into the stratosphere. It’s as catchy as it is sultry, and D.R.A.M. adds crossover skills to his steadily growing repertoire. Listen below.
“Bury Me” is out now here. The Skins EP is out later this year on Republic Records.
