Watch Arcade Fire’s Win Butler Cover Bruce Springsteen At Jam The Vote
Last night Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre hosted a pre-election concert called Jam The Vote, at which various musicians jammed with a house band featuring members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Blind Boys Of Alabama. After thanking “all the immigrants,” Win Butler covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.,” a song which his band Arcade Fire did at President Obama’s staff ball in 2009. The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn took the stage directly after, covering Nick Lowe’s “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, And Understanding.” Other performers included Questlove, Matisyahu, Valerie June, Eugene Hutz, Sam Cohen, and more. Check out Butler’s and Finn’s covers below at 3:14:00.
Arcade Fire also announced their first show of 2017 today. They’ll headline Isle of Wight 6/10. According to fest founder John Giddings, they were originally recommended to him by David Bowie back in the day “and I’ve been a fan ever since.
