Back before he released his impressive Neffy Got Wings and Fresh Outta Space 3 mixtapes, the inventive and energetic young Vallejo, California rapper Nef The Pharaoh got locally famous thanks to “Big Tymin’,” a salute to the classic late-’90s era of Cash Money Records. And on his new single “Put You On,” Nef teams up with Juvenile, the linchpin of that initial Cash Money wave. It’s a brisk, sprightly banger, and both of them balance each other out nicely on it, with Juvenile’s craggy drawl complementing Nef’s upbeat swagger. And the video for the song is a sunny affair, shot at an Oakland festival. Check it out below.
