Last night, as part of his live election-eve special, Stephen Colbert reunited with his old boss Jon Stewart for a stage musical. And he also had a very special musical guest: Stevie Wonder, the all-time great and the recent-vintage Hillary Clinton surrogate. Sitting for an interview with Colbert, Wonder made a not-altogether-coherent case for why Clinton should be president, but it involved him singing “My Cherie Amour,” so it’s still worth watching. In an effort to calm everyone’s election-related nerves, Wonder also performed “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing,” with Colbert’s house band Jon Batiste And Stay Human backing him up; Colbert got to jump in on vocals on that one. And in an online bonus, Wonder played an emotional version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” on harmonica with a visibly moved Batiste backing him up on melodica.
