James Corden Will Host The Grammys
For the past five years, LL Cool J has hosted the Grammy Awards. He has always been terrible. Even now, I can close my eyes, visualize LL saying the word “hashtag” 50 times in a row, and quietly shudder. But now, LL’s reign of terror has come to an end. And the Grammy producers have replaced him with someone who might be even cornier: Rising late-night goofball and Carpool Karaoke impresario James Corden.
Corden hosted this year’s Tonys, so he has experience in this field. And in a press-release statement, Corden says, “I am truly honored to be hosting the Grammys next year. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.”
Meanwhile, Recording Academy president and CEO Neil Portnow says, “Thanks to Carpool Karaoke, we’ve all been on some incredible rides with James, and the Recording Academy couldn’t be more excited to welcome his passion and enthusiasm for music, both as an entertainer and a fan, to the Grammy stage on February 12. He’s got big shoes to fill after the magnificent run we had with LL Cool J, but James is a commanding, dynamic showman who is perfect to host the Grammy Awards.”
I wonder if Corden will do any singing while he’s hosting this thing. Something tells me he might do some singing.
