Watch The Weeknd’s MANIA Film
On Friday, the Weeknd will release his anxiously awaited new album Starboy, and we’ve already posted a handful of tracks. And as part of the run-up to the album, the Weeknd has teamed up with a frequent collaborator, the great music-video director Grant Singer, to make a 12-minute short film called MANIA. After a couple of trailers made their way to the internet, the whole film is now out there online, and it includes clips of several songs we’re hearing for the first time — “All I Know” (Feat. Future), “Sidewalks” (Feat. Kendrick Lamar), “Secrets,” and “Die For You” — along with “Party Monster” and “I Feel It Coming.” (Notably “Secrets” samples ’80s hits from Tears For Fears and the Romantics.) MANIA also includes panthers, murders, fancy cars, and a story, written by the Weeknd himself, that draws on the movie Cat People. Check it out below.
Starboy is out 11/25 on XO/Republic.
