Adna – “Thoughts”
Swedish-born, Berlin-based singer-songwriter Adna has made two beautifully woeful albums, 2014’s Night and 2015’s Run, Lucifer. She’s set to share her third full-length offering, Closure, on St. Patrick’s Day. The second single is “Thoughts,” a bit of lush melancholia with dreamy overtones that will certainly tug at your heart strings. On the hook she sings, “The sadness in your eyes/ With you I want to feel again/ By your side/ Show you there’s no one like you,” as deftly layered piano, ringing guitar, and heavy-hitting drums come together for an evocative, cinematic feel. Here’s what Adna had to say about the song:
I wrote this when I was 16 as some kind of declaration of love to the place where I have my roots. Despite all the sorrow and the melancholy, it’s the most beautiful place I know about. And I wanted to make this song again, because it feels important to also see and think of the beauty in the things that otherwise are shown as something sorrowfully.
Listen.
