Rod Stewart Apologizes For ISIS-Style Execution Parody
Rod Stewart has apologized for a video that seemed to depict him miming an ISIS-style beheading. As Politico points out, the footage, posted to Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster’s Instagram account and since deleted, shows Stewart and friends romping around the desert ahead of last night’s show in Abu Dhabi. At one point in the clip, Stewart apparently gets a male friend to kneel down, holds him by the hair, and pretends to slit his throat. Stewart issued a statement apologizing for the stunt and explaining that it was actually more of a Game Of Thrones parody:
From re-enacting the Beatles’ Abbey Road crossing to spontaneously playing out Game Of Thrones, we were simply larking about pre-show. Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended.
