R.I.P. John Lever
John Lever, the drummer for Manchester post-punk band the Chameleons and a member of the Sun And The Moon, passed away earlier today. His bandmate and Chameleons singer/bassist Mark Burgess announced the news on Facebook this morning, stating that Lever died “following a short period of illness.”
Lever joined the Chameleons in 1981, replacing the group’s original drummer, Brian Schofield, and stayed with them until their breakup in 1987. He was involved in their brief reunion between 2000 and 2003, and also performed in the Red-Sided Garter Snakes with Chameleons guitarist Dave Fielding. Revisit some of Lever’s work below.
