Check Out Morrissey’s “Black Is How I Feel On The Inside” T-Shirt Feat. James Baldwin
Morrissey has previously made vocal his admiration for author and civil rights activist James Baldwin via his autobiography and stage projections in past concerts, but his latest act of appreciation might be his boldest and most questionable yet. Moz’s upcoming North American tour will feature at the merch booth (and on his online store) a new T-shirt that wraps the lyrics “I wear black on the outside/ ‘Cause black is how I feel on the inside,” from the Smiths’ “Unloveable,” around a photo of Baldwin that has Morrissey’s name emblazoned on his shoulder. What Moz is trying to convey here isn’t exactly clear, but it’s all a bit uncomfortable, to be perfectly honest. That’s the shirt above. You can revisit “Unloveable” below.
