Tinashe’s TV performances can feel overly scripted and polished, like she lets her choreography get in the way of delivery the actual sentiment of her songs. But thankfully, that wasn’t the case last night, when Tinashe sang her excellent new single “Flame” on The Tonight Show. This time, she had no backup dancers, and she just got to give a powerful performance of a song that doesn’t need all that help. The candles onstage and the steam that shot up during the chorus were maybe a bit on-the-nose, but they worked. Watch it below.
