Norah Jones – “Flipside” Video
Norah Jones returned wholeheartedly to her roots in jazz and piano-driven songwriting on last year’s radiant Day Breaks. We first the album’s politically-urgent single “Flipside” back in September, and today the song finally gets its own accompanying visual. Director Sam Kuhn intersperses frames of Jones boldly singing in luminous stillness with crowd shots from various anti-war and civil rights protests, including those for Black Lives Matter. Those images highlight the song’s message of dissatisfaction-induced resistance, adding color to Jones’ pointed lyricism: “I can’t stand when you tell me to get back/ If we’re all free, then why does it seem/ We can’t just be.” Watch below.
