Stream The Beatles x Star Wars Parody Album Princess Leia’s Stolen Death Star Plans
Two of the most popular, enduring, and profitable pop cultural institutions of the 20th century have collided at last. As io9 points out, Princess Leia’s Stolen Death Star Plans is an album-length cover of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band with the lyrics changed to tell the plot of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope — just in time for the 50th anniversary of the former and the 40th anniversary of the latter.
The project is the work of self-proclaimed “geek parody music” duo Palette-Swap Ninja. It includes such titles as “With Illicit Help From Your Friends,” “Being From The Spaceport Of Mos Eisley,” and “A Day In The Life Of Red Five,” though the best part is when they change the lyric “Lucy in the sky with diamonds!” to “Luke is in the desert and whining!” You can download it for free at Palette-Swap Ninja’s website or stream below via SoundCloud or an elaborate series of lyric videos by Katrin Auch.
