Chris Cornell Tribute: Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Josh Klinghoffer Cover “Seasons”
Since the sudden and shocking passing of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell two nights ago, scores of artists have come out to speak of their appreciation for the man, and a few have been brave enough to cover his songs. We’ve posted video of Heart’s Ann Wilson and Megadeth paying tribute. And as Uproxx points out, the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer gave his own salute to Cornell during last night’s Chili Peppers show in Indianapolis. Playing entirely solo, Klinghoffer took on “Seasons,” the gorgeous mystic-folk solo song that Cornell contributed to 1992’s Singles soundtrack. Klinghoffer, it turns out, has a pretty great voice. He’s not Cornell, but nobody is. Watch a fan-made video of the performance below.
The Chili Peppers toured with Soundgarden as part of Lollapalooza ’92, but Klinghoffer was 12 years old and not in the band then.
