Hand Habits – “Yr Heart”
Earlier this year, Meg Duffy released her debut album as Hand Habits, Wildly Idle (Humble Before The Void), and today she’s shared a new track that was written around the same time but made in a different environment, recorded in M. Geddes Gengras’ house instead of alone in her bedroom. “Yr Heart” is part of Saddle Creek Records’ Document Series, which aims to shine a spotlight on local music communities, and it’s a lovely and wilting five-minute swirl. “I have a memory of sitting in my room at the time, and there was this window that this little bird would come and fly up to the sill and sit and watch me in the mornings,” Duffy explained the track’s inspiration to She Shreds. “It scared me at first but I thought about it a lot and how weird it must be for birds to see humans doing their thing inside: sleeping and fucking and looking at screens.” Listen to it below.
“Yr Heart” will be included on a new 7″ that’s out 8/25 via Saddle Creek Records. Pre-order it here.
