Congratulations Bee Girl
If you were a faithful MTV viewer in the ’90s, you know Heather Deloach. In 1993, as a child, she starred in Blind Melon’s “No Rain” video as a girl in a bee costume who wanders her way through a life of ridicule only to find acceptance among a field full of kindred spirits. It’s one of the defining videos of the alt-rock era.
Twenty-four years later, Bee Girl is enjoying wedded bliss. People reports that Deloach, 34, married Matthew Greiner, 35, at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego early last month. Many of the wedding details called back to the “No Rain” video: The flower girls wore replicas of the heart-shaped antennae from the Bee Girl costume, there were little gold bees in the flower arrangements, and the wedding hashtag was #GoodToBeeGreiner. Deloach also shared this statement:
I am honored to be the Bee Girl and am so blessed to have support and love from [Blind Melon] fans all over the world during one of the most special times in my life. I owe it all to Blind Melon and their amazing talents, without them and their vision, I wouldn’t bee who I am today … A VERY HAPPY BEE.
It’s cool that Deloach seems well-adjusted about this experience that could have been more of an albatross around her neck. Check out photos from the ceremony at People.
